Andrea M. Rediske, Ph.D., is a teaching assistant professor in the School of Molecular Biosciences, at Washington State University (WSU), teaching introductory microbiology for pre-nursing and pre-allied health students and diagnostic bacteriology for upper-level undergraduate students.

Rediske began her career in higher education in 2001 as a part-time instructor at Valencia College in Orlando, Fla. and Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, Calif. before earning her Ph.D. in science education at the University of Central Florida in 2014. She served as a full-time professor at Valencia College from 2017–2025 before moving to WSU. Her master’s work focused on utilizing ultrasound, combined with antibiotics, to treat biofilm infections of implanted medical devices. Her doctoral work focused on post-secondary science education assessment methods and curriculum development. Her current focus as a science educator is using research-based methods to develop effective in-person and online curricula, as well as mentoring part-time faculty as biology coordinator for the science department. Rediske was part of the team that developed the Microbiology for Health Sciences Concept Inventory (MHSCI), and she continues to conduct research on the MHSCI.
