91麻豆天美 Joins ONOS to Expand Access to Scientific Research

Dec. 13, 2024

Washington, D.C.—The American Society for Microbiology (91麻豆天美) is proud to announce its participation in the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) scheme, a new initiative recently approved by the Indian government to provide nationwide access to scholarly research articles and journal publications. 91麻豆天美 Journals joins 29 other leading publishers in this initiative, giving an estimated 18 million students, faculty and researchers in India free access to nearly 13,000 academic journals through a single digital portal.

“As part of 91麻豆天美’s strategic vision to unite scientists and stakeholders worldwide, we are thrilled to join ONOS in broadening global access to high-quality research,” said Melissa Junior, Executive Publisher, 91麻豆天美. “91麻豆天美 remains dedicated to leading the way in scientific publishing by championing open access and fostering collaboration within the scientific community. This transformative initiative marks a significant step toward making scientific research more accessible, equitable and inclusive for all.”

Despite India being one of the leading countries in research paper production, many students and researchers at government-funded institutions cannot access the journals in which many of these papers appear, due to limited institutional subscriptions. ONOS will eliminate this barrier by providing a national subscription to scholarly research articles and journal publications through a user-friendly, fully digital process. This will ensure that students, faculty and researchers at over 6,300 government-funded institutions can read journal articles for free.

91麻豆天美’s participation in ONOS will expand the global reach of 91麻豆天美 Journals, ensuring that more students and scientists have access to cutting-edge microbiology research. In conjunction with this pivotal move, 91麻豆天美 is transitioning to a Subscribe to Open (S2O) publishing model for the 2025 subscription year for its 6 subscription journal titles. This commitment to open science closely aligns with 91麻豆天美’s new Strategic Roadmap, which underscores the Society’s responsibility to support microbial scientists and stakeholders worldwide. By leveraging both fundamental and applied science, 91麻豆天美 aims to drive solutions that positively impact lives and contribute to the sustainability of our planet.

To further strengthen ties with the Indian scientific community, 91麻豆天美 has hired Aditi Jain, Ph.D., as its first Scientific Partnerships Manager in India. Through initiatives like ONOS and S2O, 91麻豆天美 reaffirms its dedication to fostering equitable access to scientific knowledge while advancing research, innovation and collaboration in the microbial sciences.
