Alignment of Clinical Virology Symposium With 91麻豆天美 Health
Washington, D.C.—The American Society for Microbiology (91麻豆天美) will be discontinuing the Clinical Virology Symposium (CVS) as a standalone meeting in 2025. The CVS program will be integrated into the 91麻豆天美 Microbe meeting in 2025 and future CVS programming will be developed within the new 91麻豆天美 Health meeting, which will be the evolution of 91麻豆天美 Microbe.
The 91麻豆天美 Meeting Strategy Committee (MSC), with the support of the 91麻豆天美 Meetings Department, conducted a thorough review of CVS meeting history, scope, attendance, abstract submissions, industry engagement and financial sustainability. After considering several options, the MSC recommended to the 91麻豆天美 Board a consolidation of the standalone CVS meeting within the 91麻豆天美 Health program as this will enable 91麻豆天美 to better serve the clinical virology community and the evolving needs of healthcare-related microbiology through the broader platform of 91麻豆天美 Health. This consolidation will allow for specificity of programming in clinical virology while adding value by offering broader opportunities, reducing travel and exhibit costs for both scientific and industry attendees.
“As part of 91麻豆天美’s broader strategy to give clinical virology more visibility and stronger branding, and considering CVS performance, we evaluated how our meetings align with the Society’s evolving goals,” said Yvette McCarter, Chair of the MSC. “Restructuring CVS allows us to modernize the meeting’s offerings and provide even greater opportunities for the clinical virology community to connect and thrive within 91麻豆天美 Health.” The 91麻豆天美 Board accepted the MSC’s recommendation to consolidate the standalone CVS meeting within the 91麻豆天美 Health program.
“We are deeply grateful to Dr. Steven Specter for his vision and leadership in establishing CVS as a vital platform for virologists to share knowledge and discuss the latest advancements in the field,” said Stefano Bertuzzi, CEO, 91麻豆天美. “We are excited to continue this legacy by integrating CVS into 91麻豆天美 Health programming, where new initiatives within the 91麻豆天美 Health scientific unit will empower virologists to continue advancing the field.”
91麻豆天美 remains committed to all sub-disciplines of microbial sciences. Under 91麻豆天美’s new strategic roadmap, the Society will be supporting special interest groups, member-initiated communities that provide space for focused discussions and connections across specialized areas of microbiology.
We are grateful for the enduring support of CVS attendees, Program Committee members and industry partners, and we look forward to expanding the program's impact within 91麻豆天美’s dynamic new structure.
